Congratulations to the Valencia Jazz Band, under the direction of Pete Perez, for a terrific performance at the Steamers High School Jazz Band Showcase this past Saturday. The band played various selections and wowed parents and friends who had come to see these young musicians play in an authentic jazz club environment. Baltazar Montoya was judged Outstanding Musician on the day by Friends of Jazz members Dylan Harlan and Phil Rothstein. Montoya was presented a monetary scholarship. As customary, the band also received a stipend from Friends of Jazz.
Only two bands remain in the 2015 season..El Dorado plays next Saturday, May 9.
